Safety:

The goal of the ACHS aromatherapy degrees, programs and courses is to educate students on safe administration, therapeutic properties, constituent profile and organoleptic characteristics of each of the essential oils studied. ACHS aromatherapy training adheres to the Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC) safety standards for Registered Aromatherapists™, and all students are expected to follow generally accepted safety practices as provided in the:

Note the ARC Board defines unsafe practice to include but not limited to practicing or teaching unsafe essential oil administration, such as used in “raindrop therapy” or “raindrop technique” or “aroma touch” and any other therapies similar to “raindrop therapy” “raindrop technique” or “aroma touch”, involving the use of neat essential oils on the skin.

Use of Lab Kit Essential Oils:

To ensure the efficacy of the organoleptic testing and practical lab work required in ACHS aromatherapy courses and to ensure the safe administration of essential oils, all students must use the essential oils provided in course materials to complete required case studies and all other assessments. The essential oils in the lab kits supplied are all certified organic or sustainably produced, pesticide-free, and independently lab tested and verified. Therefore, essential oils from other sources and/or proprietary commercial blends may not be used to complete any of the required assessments in ACHS courses.

Respectful Communication:

Course discussion boards are a collaborative learning environment, and it’s crucial all students feel encouraged and safe to explore their ideas and ask questions. Demonstrating respect for our peers by actively listening, using positive communication, and focusing discussion on course-specific topics (e.g., essential oil chemistry, aromatherapy blending, uses in fragrance) helps everyone to achieve their learning goals.

Please refrain from posting any content about companies distributing essential oils (such as MLMs) or your experience with these companies. This information can come across as advertising, endorsement, or promotion, which does not belong in the ACHS classroom and is not permitted under ACHS’s conduct policies. It is also not permitted to cite essential oil administration practices that contravene ARC’s safety requirements.

We understand this can be a sensitive matter for some students and share this disclosure with all applicants in advance to promote understanding and cooperation in fostering a healthy learning environment for all students.
